Michael Moore has said that Alexandria Ocasio Cortez should be allowed to run for president.
In an interview with Ali Velshi on MSNBC's The Last Word, the documentary film-maker said that he wished that the age restriction to be president could be lowered from 35 to 30, in order to let Ocasio-Cortez run.
Speaking to Velish, he said:
I wish... it's too bad that you have to be 35 to be president.Â
We put that in the constitution, the Founding Fathers, because people died at 38 or 40 back then.Â
We need to lower that, if that was lowered to 30....Â
Velish then chipped in:
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is that where you're going...
And Moore responded:
...could be running.
Moore also then continued to sing Ocasio-Cortez's praises:
She's the leader! She's the leader of this mass movement.
The 29-year-old freshman Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez would have turned 30 by the next scheduled inauguration.
In order to bolster his claim, Moore referred to a Fox News poll that stated the majority of the American public agree with Ocasio-Cortez's proposals to raise the marginal tax rate to 70 per cent on the richest citizens, reports The Mail.
In the past, the Fahrenheit 11/9 director has also backed Tom Hanks or Michelle Obama as presidential candidates.
