Nigel Farage tweeted 'we got our passports back' and he got roasted

Nigel Farage got extremely excited about passports on Twitter, and it goes without saying that he got well and truly roasted for it.

Taking to the social media site, he quote tweeted an old video he'd shared, alongside the message:

We want our passports back!

In the tweet, he shared a photograph of himself holding up a new-style passport without the mention of the European Union, alongside the caption:

We got our passports back!

After he shared the photograph, the Brexit Party leader was on the receiving end of some scathing mockery.

Despite the UK's continued membership of the EU, the travel documents without the European title were issued from March 30, the day after the official Brexit deadline.

In news that's even more exciting for passport enthusiasts, the classic blue passports are due to be issued from the end of the year.
