Police investigate possible 4chan link to woman's death

Police are investigating a possible link between a woman’s death in Kitsap, Washington state in the US, and photos posted on the message board 4chan, according to reports.

It comes after a woman’s body was found on Tuesday. KOMO News reports police have not said how the woman died or confirmed her identity, but have said her death was “suspicious”.

According to screengrabs purported to be of a 4Chan thread, an anonymous poster left pictures of what appeared to be a dead body on the site with comments

“Check the news for Port Orchard Washington in a few hours. Her son will be home from school soon. He’ll find her, then call the cops. I just wanted to share the pics before they find me," the anonymous poster wrote.

It went on: “I bought a BB gun that looks realistic enough. When they come, I’ll pull it and it will be suicide by cop.”

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Scott Wilson told NBC news that they were aware of the images but could not comment if they were of the woman.

“Any time we have images of this graphic nature that are posted on social media, and purport to be this crime scene, we are going to take those seriously. But we are unable to confirm whether those photographs are of this victim right now," he said.

The Port Orchard Independent quotes Wilson saying that the images were posted online before police were called at 3:32pm.
