Fox News host Megyn Kelly didn't hold back when grilling Donald Trump over his history of sexist remarks during Thursday night's Republican presidential primary debate.
"You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals", she said, before the property tycoon interrupted her to say, “Only Rosie O’Donnell,” which elicited cheers from the audience.
One of Trump's more frequent targets over the years has been comedian and TV presenter Rosie O'Donnell. Recently she called him an "ass in every way" on Twitter after he suggested her partner's parents must be "devastated at the thought of their daughter being with Rosie - - a true loser".
And back in 2006, Trump said of O'Donnell:
If I were running The View, I'd fire Rosie. I mean, I'd look her right in that fat, ugly face of hers, I'd say, 'Rosie, you're fired.' We're all a little chubby, but Rosie's just worse than most of us.
Kelly didn't let Trump off the hook during the debate, pointing out Trump's misogynistic comments "for the record, go way beyond Rosie O'Donnell" and asking him to respond to Hillary Clinton's charge that Trump is "part of the war on women".
And O'Donnell herself, watching along with her family, fired back on Twitter, "try explaining that 2 ur kids":
Well said, Rosie. Why is a man who wants to be President on prime time TV making out like it's OK to call women you don't like fat?
