The democracies that still enforce conscription

Britain abolished conscription in 1957, but dozens of countries around the world still enlist people in compulsory military service.

As this map from Statista shows, even democracies such as Norway, Israel, South Korea and Brazil still retain some form of national service, while more repressive regimes such as Saudi Arabia, China and Burma do not.
