Donald Trump, the president of the United States of America, is now claiming that he knew to the coronavirus outbreak was pandemic, despite previously saying it was hoax.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Trump said that he had realised that COVID-19 was a pandemic long before the World Health Organisation had confirmed it as one last week.
He said:
This is a pandemic. I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic. All you had to do was look at other countries.
This is a dramatic U-turn from Trump who just a few weeks ago was claiming that the outbreak was a hoax concocted by the Democrats, which he said during a rally in South Carolina at the end of February.
Trump's reversal and blatant arrogance has understandably annoyed a lot of people, especially in a time when people need reassurance and the truth from our leaders.
The United States has begun to take firmer measures to combat the virus and Trump has considerably changed his tune on the issue, as evident in the above video but is still insistent on calling it 'Chinese-virus.'
At the time of writing the US has 6,362 confirmed coronavirus and 108 deaths since the virus was first reported in the country on January 15.
