In news that will shock no one, Donald Trump has praised a controversial leader of a foreign country.
In a visit to the White House, the Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban, a far-right nationalist who has taken a hard line on immigration, press freedom and claimed that Hungary has an 'illiberal democracy.'
During his meeting with Trump, the US president claimed that Orbán is 'respected all over Europe' and had 'kept Hungary safe'.
You're respected all over Europe.
Probably like me a little bit controversial, but that's OK.
You've done a good job and you've kept your country safe.
Trump's praise of Orbán and his controversial policies has drawn immediate criticism online with many criticising his unfounded proclamations about the Hungarian's popularity in Europe.
Others brought up his comments about Muslim congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and her apparent "tremendous hatred of Israel and the Jewish people", whereas Orbán has been openly critical of the Hungarian-American Jewish philanthropist George Soros.
Elsewhere, US politicians have slammed Trump for hosting Orbán, who is the first Hungarian PM to visit the White House in 14 years.
Just while you're here, these are the controversial politicians that Trump has praised since he has been in office.
