Where is Kim Jong-un? This is what the US thinks hasn't happened

Despite Kim Jong-un's protracted absence from the public eye, America's national security adviser Susan Rice says there is "no indication" he has been ousted from power.

Speaking to NBC television on Sunday evening, Ms Rice explained: "Obviously, we are watching very carefully what's happening in North Korea. It's a country that we monitor with great attention."

We have not seen any indications of a transfer of power at this point.

Rumours surrounding the dictator's absence have been rife - with suggestions of ill health, a possible coup by the Organization and Guidance Department (OGD) or that Kim had been ousted by his sister. He was last seen in public on 3rd September, when he was walking with a visible limp.
