Why blaming refugees for the attacks in Brussels is completely senseless

Some People have begun blaming refugees for the attacks that killed an estimated 30 people in Brussels on Tuesday morning.

Donald Trump also toldFox News that he would "close the borders until we figure out what's going on".

According to Amnesty International’s figures, there are more than 50 million people who have been forcibly displaced from their homes.

Refugees, by nature of their circumstance flee from a country where their lives are at risk.

The largest portion of refugees coming to Europe are from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq - three countries so torn apart by war and state violence that many of their people chose to leave their homes and enter a state of poverty and uncertainty just to get away.

This tweet went viral just after the Paris attacks last November, but is just as relevant after the events in Brussels:

And as LBC presenter James O'Brien so perfectly summed up on Tuesday morning:

The majority of people fleeing Syria and Iraq, in particular, are fleeing a world in which occurrences like the one in Brussels today are utterly, utterly normal.

They are fleeing a world where seeing people blown up in front of them… is absolutely run of the mill.

So to use a terror attack upon Europe to somehow condemn people who flee terror attacks on a daily basis… you are effectively using a terror attack upon Europe to tell people they shouldn’t be fleeing daily terror attacks on their homes.
