Why you shouldn’t turn your back on an elephant, in one video

This clip comes to us from Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools national park.

It shows Irishman Stephen Montague and his brother-in-law Shane Wolf having a meal disturbed/enriched by the appearance of a young bull elephant.

The elephant appears curious at first but the tourists’ feigned nonchalance - we imagine they were told to ignore the elephant and he would go away - actually seems to enrage it, and he knocks one of the men aside before the slow-clap of a guide drives him away.

Mr Wolf is understood to have sustained some grazing in the incident, but otherwise both men were OK.

Lesson learned.
