Man finds genius illusion that allows him to take a sneaky nap in class

A fantastic video of a 'student' apparently getting busted as he napped behind a canvas portrait of himself has gone viral - but not all is as it seems.

In the video, which was posted on Reddit and imgur, you can see a class of young adults paying attention - the guy in the white T-shirt looks particularly engrossed... HANG ON A MINUTE.

As the camera moves closer you can see he's getting 40 winks behind what is apparently a canvas portrait.

His classmate pokes him to get his attention and he whips the board away.

But curse those resourceful Redditers - within minutes of it being posted, many people had already pointed out that the video was most likely a clever trick.

"Pretty sure it looks so good because it is using compositing," one wrote. "The photo was never printed. It's a still from when the camera was still on the tripod and he was 'attentive'."

The imgur version of the video, which has racked up over 4.1 million views, provides some more clues.

Some have linked to similar clips like this starring the same person:

While others pointed out that the guy in the video was almost certainly a professional video editor.

And they're right! This is Zach King, an American Vine star, film maker and YouTube personality, best known for his 'digital sleight of hands' - where he produces six-second videos that have been digitally edited to make it seem as though he's doing magic. Also kittens.

The Independentinterviewed King in 2014 to see just how he pulls off these incredible videos.

Still, this latest stunt has probably given the next generation of students a few good ideas.
