Warning: This post contains images of violence against women.
A new video from blogger Anita Sarkeesian gives a shocking insight into how women are portrayed in video games - by pointing out series in which their bodies are literally used as objects.
Ms Sarkeesian looks at how women are exist in several mainstream games only as victims of violence and sex objects, with their dead and brutalised bodies used to create "ambiance" within a video game.
Here are all the games referenced:
Assassin’s Creed 2 (2009)
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (2010)
Bioshock (2007)
Bioshock 2 (2010)
Dead Island (2011)
Dishonored (2012)

Grand Theft Auto IV (2008)
Grand Theft Auto V (2013)
Hitman: Absolution (2012)
Hitman: Blood Money (2006)

The Darkness II (2012)

Watch Dogs (2014)
The video is the latest instalment of the Tropes vs Women in video games project and the second part of a specific examination of how women are treated as objects in games.
Ms Sarkeesian's attempts to highlight the rampant misogyny in video games has made her a target for trolls: During attempts to raise funds for the project Ms Sarkeesian was subject to a campaign of abuse and intimidation which included death and rape threats, while some of her tormentors created a game inviting users to beat her up.
Following the release of her latest video Ms Sarkeesian, who tweets as Feminist Frequency, said fresh threats had been made against her and her family.
