Game of Thrones: People were absolutely not ready for that uncomfortable Arya scene

The latest Game of Thrones romance has caught fans by surprise.

WARNING: Spoilers below.

Last night’s episode saw Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams) lose her virginity to Gendry (Joe Dempsie) before they go to battle the Night King.

And the scene came as a shock to some viewers who, let’s be honest, had been paying more attention to the army of the undead coming to kill everyone.

The scene was so unexpected that Williams thought it was a joke when she first read the script.

It also left some fans wondering - how old Arya is meant to be?

After all, Game of Thrones has a long history of messed up relationships.

But, for those who don’t already know, Arya is 18 at this point in the story – and Williams is 22.

HBO even shared a tweet unsubtly reminding everyone of that fact.

Writer Mikki Kendall even argued that the scene was possibly the least weird sex scene in the whole show.

So now you can stan Arya and Gendry (Garya? Gendra?) guilt-free…
