A voter registration website says it saw a huge surge in sign ups after Kylie Jenner posted a link to it in her Instagram bio.

Jenner also posted a bikini pic with the caption "but are you registered to vote? click the link in my bio.. let’s make a plan to vote together".

A spokesperson told The Hill that they saw a 1,500 per cent increase in visitors after Jenner's post, as well as an 80 per cent increase in users compared to the day before. According to TMZ, the site was reached 48,000 times yesterday, up from 2,900.

Jenner didn't tell her 196 million followers who she was voting for, but in 2016 she did endorse the Democrats., which is nonpartisan, expressed their delight with Jenner's promotion. CEO Andrea Hailey reportedly said:

Following Kylie Jenner's Instagram post, the surge in interactions with's registration verification tool speaks to an energy among young Americans who want to make sure their voices are heard this election.

By making voting easier, and in turn, getting more people to vote, we create a stronger, more representative democracy.

Jenner has an enormously influential platform.

In 2018, she accidentally cut $1.3bn from Snapchat's stock market value after tweeting that she doesn't use it any more. Her Instagram post encouraging people to vote was liked almost 10m times.

With a great platform comes great responsibility and this time, thankfully, Jenner has used it for good.
