The 10 most romantic lines in the history of film, according to British women

V-Day is almost upon us.

If you're not spending the weekend wrapped in the arms of your true love, and instead wallowing in the false expectations of rom coms, which have recently been proven to be dangerous, we won't judge you.

Well, maybe a little bit.

TV channel Drama asked 2,000 British women - but no men - what they think the most romantic lines in film are, and found that a line from the 1995 film adaptation of Jane Austen's 'Sense & Sensibility' came out top. It's from Elinor and Edward's final scene:

My heart is, and always will be, yours.

Winning that ticket, Rose, was the best thing that ever happened to me… it brought me to you. And I’m thankful for that, Rose. I’m thankful. You must do me this honour, Rose. Promise me you’ll survive.

When you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

And at home by the fire, whenever you look up there I shall be. And whenever I look up, there will be you.

9. Love Actually

But for now, let me say without hope or agenda to me, you are perfect, and my wasted heart will love you.

10. Pride & Prejudice

In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.
