Researchers have found that English-language song lyrics are among the most miserable categories of writing in the world.

The analysis of 100,000 words in 10 languages, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that English lyrics are even more dispiriting than Russian literature - long held-up as a yardstick for bleakness.
