Angel Di Maria's short career at Man Utd summed up in seven sad pictures (and one gif)

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that Angel Di Maria has failed to turn up for the club's pre-season tour and that he "does not know why".

As rumours continue to swirl he is heading for the exit, we take a look back at the Argentine's short career at Old Trafford.

1. It all started so well. Here he is, all smiles, after signing for £59m - a British transfer record - last summer...

4. He increasingly found himself on the bench and was reportedly heavily affected by a burglary at his house in February...

6. In May, Van Gaal failed to dismiss rumours the winger might be leaving, remarking: "I cannot say that he has had a marvellous season here".
