Ozil donates World Cup bonus to Brazilian charities (not Gaza)

Mesut Ozil will donate part of his €300,000 (£240,000) World Cup bonus to charities in Brazil, according to the Associated Press.

Rumours started by Middle East Monitor on Wednesday suggested the Arsenal and Germany star had donated his winnings to 'the children of Gaza', but those reports were later quashed.

The 23 members of the successful German squad received the six-figure bonus after defeating Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday evening.
