Love Island: Hugo and Amy’s tense reunion on Aftersun has fans gritting their teeth

In terms of drama, Love Island really is the gift that keeps on giving.

We’ve had the fallout from Casa Amor, dramatic dumpings and dramatic recouplings. And, in recent days, one of the more potent sources of drama has been Hugo and Amy.

On Thursday night, the merry pair were dumped from the island after they were voted out by their fellow contestants. Upon leaving, Hugo described his love journey on the show as “tragic” in a humiliating piece to camera right next to Amy and she – believing they were going to continue dating on ‘the outside world’ – looked shocked.

And so to Sunday’s Aftersun show, a weekly chat show that is aired after the main episode in which dumped islanders are interviewed by Laura Whitmore and Love Island pundits pontificate about what has happened during the week.

In this episode, lucky viewers were treated to an unseen clip in which Hugo and Amy met up to discuss their relationship.

Amy said Hugo went on the show for “a lads’ holiday” and “wasted” her time. She also accused Hugo of dumping her during that piece to camera. Hugo disagreed.

If that wasn’t enough, Amy and Hugo were then interviewed live on TV about their relationship. Safe to say, it didn’t go well and the two ended up loudly arguing. Amy said her biggest “regret” was coupling up with Hugo and claimed he was “terrible with women”.

For his part, Hugo said Amy wasn’t “into” him from the start and had used him in Casa Amor to make it to the main villa. Oof.

Reacting to the s**t absolutely hitting the fan, people grabbed their popcorn.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 in which we will find out which two islanders will be next to be dumped from the island. We can’t wait.
