Sarcasm isn't so much humour you enjoy when it lands, but when it swooshes above the heads of your audience.

Often it's more of a compulsion than a comedic routine, and you have to warn people when you're actually being serious.

The Greek root for sarcasm comes from 'sarkazein', which literally means to strip off the flesh, which is fitting considering how brutal sarcasm can be.
