The hit series has taken Netflix by storm and there’s no surprise that it’s reportedly on track to becoming the platform’s most-watched original show ever.

The South Korean survival drama poaches desperate debtors who battle it out in a series of deadly children’s games for a chance to win a multimillion-dollar cash prize.

Those who fail the challenges face the ultimate penalty – though, we’d argue the real losers are the ones who haven’t yet watched the show.

Squid Game was initially announced in 2019, meaning it took two years to finish production. While there hasn’t been any confirmation for season 2, it’s likely that we won’t see the follow-up series for at least another year.

“I don’t have well-developed plans for Squid Game 2. It is quite tiring just thinking about it. But if I were to do it, I would certainly not do it alone. I’d consider using a writers’ room and would want multiple experienced directors”, director Hwang Dong-hyuk told Variety.

“It took me six months to write and rewrite the first two episodes. Then I consulted verbally with friends, and picked up clues for improvements through my own pitching and from their responses.”
