LAURA GERSON

Parenthood is a constant joy. Well, it is in the moments around the frequent vomiting, nappy changing and - worst of all - crying.

But this mum has devised a way to help keep her baby quiet and content.

Laura Gerson shared her ingenious idea with a community of mothers on The Motherload Facebook page.

Here is the wonderfully simple yet fiendishly clever plan in action:

It'd take a pretty wriggly baby to push all those dummies onto the floor.

Gerson told indy100:

She isn't a total dummy fiend and doesn't even have them through the day really.

But it really soothes her having them through the night, and having more in there makes it easy for her to find one, and hold one (or two).

She added:

I know it's not a new idea and some people have done it before but there are lots that haven't!

Our thinking is that if 1 or 100 families can get a good night's sleep from a post that we put up because it was cute and humorous then it's fantastic!

Many exhausted parents were overjoyed with the sleep-saving method.

One Facebook user said:

Genius! Wish I haf [sic] thought of that with my first...

it's no fun crawling around under a cot to find a lost dummy at 1am..2...2:30....3:15....3:20....4....5...

well you get the picture! This hack would have saved me hours of sleep

However, not everyone was impressed.

One user commented:

Or, you could never introduce the pacifier and not ever have this battle. Four kids, zero pacifier.

I hated the thought of giving them something unnecessary that I'd just have to take away later.

To each their own.
