Rees-Mogg is often affectionately referred to as “eccentric”. This is the man who said the longest word ever to be spoken in the House of Commons (floccinaucinihilipilification), and called his sixth son Sixtus.
The Oxford-educated, 48-year-old Etonian is seen as the epitome of Tory, and he once famously referred to himself on a BBC documentary as “man of the people – vox populi, vox dei”.
Comedian Mark Steel, however, has shared a story about the MP that may go to first place in the Rees-Mogg trivia charts.
He tweeted:
I've just been told of someone who was at University with Jacob Rees-Mogg, and saw him aged 18 wearing a monocle which dropped into a trifle
And it's funny because, well - we can all believe it.
Bring on the puns.
