Donald Trump is set to reveal his decision on the fate of the Iran Deal at 2pm local time (6pm GMT).

The world is waiting with bated breath to see if the US president will pull out of the Iran nuclear deal, which his predecessor had spent years putting together and which marked a legacy point in his presidency.

If the US president and former reality TV star pulls out of the deal, he will be following through on his campaign promise. He has often referred to it as the “worst deal ever”, and was particularly against the accord’s sunset clause, which gives permission for Iran to resume part of its nuclear programme after 2025.

Trump has several options on the table, including imposing all the sanctions at once, which would put the US in immediate violation of the deal’s terms.

In this time of uncertainty, a reminder...

In 2015, Barack Obama tweeted about the importance of the nuclear deal in maintaining global security.

The choice, he said, is between diplomacy and war.

Something to consider.
