Someone celebrated their dog's pregnancy with a professional maternity shoot

This dog is pregnant.

To celebrate her reproductive skills, Brazilian photographer Ana Paula Grillo ran a full shoot with expectant mother Lilica, complete with props and a pink flower accessory.

At the time, Lilica, Ana's friend's pet, is visibly ready to give birth to a significant litter of puppies. She's pictured stretched out across a chair in a serene looking garden, lying calmly in the fresh grass, and smiling and holding the hand of a friendly human.

Ana posted the shoot on Facebook and had at the time of writing been shared hundreds of thousands of times. More than 70,000 people have liked the post, and comments are abundant.

The pregnant Lilica displays quite human-like characteristics, which might explain the popularity of her maternal ways. Her joy is palpable. She seems to be looking forward to becoming a mother.

Ana writes (roughly translated from Portuguese) that it's a 'special' time and that the pictures show why Lilica needs 'love and care'. It's 'lovely and charming', she adds.

She also told the Dojo that the pregnancy was the result of a romance with a neighbour's dog, and that the puppies have since been born, and all adopted.
