Ice cream that cures hangovers is now a thing

Is lying around shoving ice cream in your face all you want to do after a night of drinking?

Yes? Obviously? Then, boy, do we have some good news for you.

A convenience store chain in South Korea - coincidentally Asia's biggest per capital alcohol consumers - has made an ice lolly that apparently soothes hangovers.

It is called the Gyeondyho-bar, which roughly (and appropriately) translates to 'hang in there'.

A spokesperson for Withme FS, the convenience store chain to thank for the product, said in a press release that the ice cream bar's name:

expresses the hardships of employees who have to suffer a working day after heavy drinking, as well as to provide comfort to those who have to come to work early after frequent nights of drinking.

If this all sounds a bit too good to be true, you could very well be right.

But there is some cold, hard, delicious evidence on the ice lolly's side.

The treat contains 0.7 per cent oriental raisin tree fruit juice, a traditional South Korean hangover remedy that a 2012 study found reduced symptoms of intoxication in rats.

South Koreans spend well over £86 million ($120 million) on drinks and pills designed to ease hangovers, according to Reuters.
