There's a good reason why photos of the bald eagle are only taken from the side

They are one of the most magnificent creatures in the animal kingdom - but it turns out that there's a reason why we only ever see pictures of the American Bald Eagle taken from the side.

Ever realised that? Think about it - ALL the photos are in profile.

And it boils down to one thing: sheer vanity.

Check out how the bald eagle looks from the front, and it's a far cry from the majestic beasts that adorns the American passport.

Instead, we're faced with a creature that looks like it's just put its claw in a live socket.

Or, as one Reddit user pointed out, there's more than a passing resemblance to Back To The Future's Dr Emmett Brown.

Either way, it's a far cry from the bold and fearless bird we're acquainted with.
