Artist uses cartoon characters to brighten up photos of Iraq

Let's be honest, the world can be a pretty depressing place, even at the best of times.

If only there was a way of bringing a bit of joy and colour into our lives when it feels like all is lost.

Allow us to introduce you to the heart-warming work of Iraqi artist Mokhallad Habib.

By using images from his home country, usually of war-torn regions or people in distressing situations, Mokhallad uses cartoon characters to brighten up scenarios and make even the worst moments a little bit happier.

Speaking to Indy100,Mokhallad, who also works as a pharmacist, explained the inspiration behind the project.

I always try to look at things in a positive way and to make people smile by mixing my art with reality.
