Bret Easton Ellis is an American novelist and writer, perhaps most famous for his monument to gore and late eighties/early nineties excess, American Psycho.

The book was later made into a film of the same name, starring Christian Bale, Jared Leto and Chloë Sevigny.

Both were infamous for the excessive violence, often sexual, of the protagonist/villain, a wall street investment banker and serial killer called Patrick Bateman.

On his blog, Bret Easton Ellis occasionally auctions stills from the movie, often of Christian Bale as Batemen.

One such auction is going for $355 presently after 10 bids.

The auction is a still, featuring an autograph from Bret Easton Ellis alongside the quote "Make America Great Again", which was popularised by President Donald Trump in the most recent United States Presidential election.

Bret Easton Ellis has tweeted support for Asghar Farhadi, who may be kept from the Academy Awards ceremony due to Donald Trump's travel ban, often referred to as a 'Muslim ban', as it singles out seven Muslim-majority countries.

The "Make America Great Again" slogan does not occur in the pages of American Psycho.

"Make America Psycho Again" was the title of Fall Out Boy's 2015 remix album, however, which nodded to both the Donald Trump slogan and their prior album "American Beauty/American Psycho" a reference itself to both the iconic films.

Make of that what you will.

Incidentally, you should listen to Huey Lewis and the News' album Sports, released in 1983.

The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
