Donald Trump has been called out by his favourite network Fox News after trying to minimise his administration’s negative environmental policies.
In a speech at the White House on Monday, the president responded to a report from the environmental non-profit Sierra Club, which said he had “the worst record on the environment and climate action of any president in the history of the country”.
Trump and a number of cabinet members argued that increase in fossil fuel production was actually good for the environment.

But Fox News host Shepard Smith took to the air to say what most people were already thinking: that those policies have been “widely criticised by environmentalists and academics.”
Smith cited a New York Times report that found that Trump’s government had either repealed or rolled back more than 80 environmental rules and regulations.
He listed just a few, including cancelling a requirement for oil and gas companies to report methane emissions, loosening a rule to limit toxic emissions from major industrial poluters, and proposing a weakening of fuel-economy standards for cars and trucks.
People were delighted to see Trump fact-checked, especially by the only TV network he regularly praises.
It comes after a series of tweets from the president on Sunday in which he attacked Fox News in a rare outburst against the Rupert Murdoch-owned network, saying they were employing too many Democrats and using the “fake” New York Times as a source.
