This tweet from Trump's personal lawyer is coming back to haunt him

The FBI raided the office of Michael Cohen, one of Donald Trump's personal lawyers, on Monday.

Adding insult to injury for Cohen, a 2015 tweet mocking Hillary Clinton and suggesting she "go to prison" has inevitably resurfaced.

Trump - who threatened to jail Hillary Clinton if he won the election - called the office break-in a "disgraceful situation" and a "total witch hunt".

Agents overseen by the US Attorney's office in Manhattan, and acting in part on a referral from special counsel Robert Mueller, were seizing records on subjects that include a $130,000 (£92,000) payment to Stormy Daniels, who claims she was paid to keep quiet about an affair with Trump.

Cohen admitted to making the payment just before the 2016 US election, but argued the payment was lawful and was not funded by the Trump organisation or the campaign.

People - in particular, social media users - never forget.

The internet was quick to ensure the tweet came back to haunt Cohen.

Mueller is investigating alleged contacts between Mr Trump’s campaign and Russia. On Monday, Trump called the probe “an attack on our country”.
