Here's how your crisps can be used to spy on you

Today in news that makes you think "what a time to be alive", researchers have found that everyday objects such as a crisp packet, glass of water or pot plants can be used to extract sounds.

A team from MIT managed to recover intelligible sounds based on analysing video of everyday objects made through soundproof glass, by looking at the vibrations made when sound hits an object.

"The motion of this vibration creates a very subtle visual signal that’s usually invisible to the naked eye. People didn't realise that this information was there", MIT's Abe Davis explained.
