President Obama went on Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis in order to plug universal healthcare, and presidents since the 1970s have appeared on Saturday Night Live.

Now, Jeremy Clarkson has suggested a presidential guest appear on his show.

In what could be the most cataclysmic meeting of two men accused of xenophobia, he welcomed the suggestion of Donald Trump appearing on The Grand Tour.

It wouldn't such a ridiculous idea. Trump has done plenty of TV work.

There was his non-sexual role in a Playboy video.

And he's also had cameos in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Zoolander, Sex and the City, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, the Nanny, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-air.

Don't forget the reality show 'Election 2016' of which he was a contestant and eventual winner, which many of us hope is actually what has happened.

When specifically asked if the The Grand Tour would host the president-elect, Clarkson responded emphatically.

God, yes. Have you seen what we've been doing with everyone else?

The invite isn't all that it seems. Rather than planning a bonding session, Clarkson's motives are more sinister.

Fans of the The Grand Tour will know that the celebrity guests in the inaugural season have been frequently 'killed off' by the hosts.

Rather than this being a legitimate threat against an elected official, Clarkson's team is just doing a joke, like on Top Gear.

So far Armie Hammer, Jeremy Renner, Carol Vorderman, and Charlize Theron have been 'killed off' by the show.

It's unknown if the president-elect's transition team is willing to accept the invitation.
