In case you've been living under a rock, it's our obligation to inform you that today is the day to vote in the midterm elections and to mark this momentous occasion, a new breed of election meme has been born.

People have been comparing their feelings for the 2018 midterm elections to their emotions leading up to the 2016 presidential election.

The meme, captioned 'Me voting in 2016 vs. me voting in 2018' has been making its way around the Twittersphere and it's worrying how accurate it feels.

There's an overwhelming trend emerging from these memes which show how unprepared people were for Trump actually winning the election in 2016.

If people were carefree and lethargic about voting in 2016, it's probably fair to say that people are, as Obama would want, fired up and ready to go.

Make sure you get out and vote today.
