On Tuesday, Melania Trump revealed her and Donald's official Christmas portrait and at first glance, all looked to be well between the couple.

With the president in a smart tuxedo and Melania in a white evening gown, the couple appears to be merry and in the festive spirit as they are surrounded by vibrant Christmas trees in the Cross Hall on Saturday, during the Congressional Ball.

Despite both of their many, many flaws it would take a lot to find anything seriously wrong with this tweet or the respective image but then again these are the Trumps and there is always something wrong.

It's been speculated for a while that the relationship between Donald and Melania isn't at its strongest and displays of affection are rare but to see them holding hands is a sight for sore eyes.

Body language experts have been studying the image intensely and feel that despite the fact that they are holding hands, it's hardly a display of love and tenderness.

Speaking to InStylemagazine the body language expert Patti Wood, said:

If you look at that photo and don’t move in on it tightly at all, you can feel the tension in it. There’s many things that show affection, care, a desire to merge — that aren’t present.

It’s a loose handhold. If you look at her hand, it is bent around his and slightly lifting his up. But you can see where he’s not fully joining in by the way that his thumb is awkwardly out. It’s very odd.

If you look at it closely, you see that the thumb is straight and pointing at him as opposed to resting or curling around her, and doing what would be normal to show a return of affection.

Elsewhere, other subtle things in the image were a little 'off.' For instance, where are those infamous red Christmas trees that everyone liked so much?

Also, where is their son, Barron, who wasn't in last year's picture either.

Also, what is up with the Trumps themselves? Their usual orange complexions are much more subdued and dare we say 'normal'.

This was noticed by Vogue.com's Visual Director Emily Rosser who said:

It’s how they’re lit versus the lighting in the space. It makes them look like cutouts.

We're not saying that it's better but at least the Pence's Christmas portrait looked a lot more natural.
