Notre Dame fire: The difference between Trump and Obama's responses in just two tweets

Yesterday, the world looked on in shock and horror as the historic Notre Dame cathedral in Paris suffered a huge fire, which severly damaged the iconic building's roof.

The blaze took just 63 minutes to engulf the building and bring its famous spire crashing to the ground, as smoke enveloped the skies of the French capital, with firefighters struggling to control the flames.

French president Emmanuel Macron has already pledged to launch an international fundraiser to pay for the reconstruction. Speaking at the scene last night Macron said:

We'll rebuild this cathedral all together and it's undoubtedly part of the French destiny and the project we'll have for the coming years.

That's what the French expect [and] because it's what our history deserves.

Other world leaders offered their condolences to the French people last night including Theresa May, Justin Trudeau and Leo Varadkar.

The former US president Barack Obama also offered his sympathies, calling Notre Dame 'one of the world's great treasures' and shared a picture of his family inside the famous cathedral.

Unsurprisingly, Donald Trump offered a slightly different take on the events and shared his thoughts on how the fire should have been put out.

We're not sure where to start with this as it is so inconceivably wrong on so many levels.

Firstly, Trump claiming that 'flying water tankers' could be used to put the fire out would have been a disaster and caused more damage than the actual fire.

Talking to CNBC, retired New York City Fire Department battalion chief, Wayne McPartland, added:

If you hit that with tons of water from above, that’s going to collapse the entire structure and make the situation worse.

If you miss, you might hit civilians in the street.

Let's not forgot that, just a few months ago, Trump once again shared his expertise on tackling fires, claiming that forest management teams should have done a better job of 'raking the leaves' to prevent the massive wildfires in California.

Also, do 'water tankers' even exist?
