The man that Trump threw out of his rally and mocked his weight was actually a supporter

A clip from Donald Trump's rally in Manchester, New Hampshire on Thursday night has gone viral after the president mocked a man's weight that he had just thrown out of the venue.

Initial reports suggested that the man was a protestor who had been trying to disrupt the event at the Southern New Hampshire University Arena before being escorted away by security but it has since been revealed that he was actually a Trump supporter.

As he was being shown out, Trump, to the delight of his audience, yelled:

That guy has got a serious weight problem. Go home, start exercising.

Got a bigger problem than I do. Got a bigger problem than all of us.

However, it has since emerged that this whole incident was a case of mistaken identity as the man Trump insulted was actually one of his own supporters.

Associated Pressreported that he was actually trying to alert security to their presence and prise one of their signs away. As he was being led away he apparently shook his fist in an act of support for Trump.

Fox News later found the man, who is called Frank Dawson, who is a navy vet and former police officer and despite what happened took the moment in good spirits.

Speaking to the network he said:

He didn't see me rip the signs away from those three people that were sitting near us and they were trying to cause a ruckus. They jumped up and started yelling something.

I don't even care what they were yelling but it wasn't going to happen beside me because I was trying to listen to my president.

I think he thought I was part of it but I wasn't — I was the good part of it. Everything's good. I love the guy. He's the best thing that ever happened to this country.

A White House official has since told CNN that Trump has sent a voice mail to Dawson apologising for the insult.
