Trump’s weird Thanksgiving ‘turkey pardoning’ is being compared to Obama's and it isn't very flattering

Donald Trump has been compared to Barack Obama once again after his Thanksgiving turkey pardon, littered with references to his ongoing impeachment hearings, seemed to lack the warmth and wit of his predecessor.

The National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation takes place at the White House every year and sees a turkey "pardoned" and therefore spared death ahead of Thanksgiving.

Never one to miss an opportunity Trump used the traditional ceremony to address the assembled media and lash out his critics:

It seems the democrats are accusing me of being too soft on turkey but, Bread and Butter, I should note that, unlike previous witnesses, you and I have actually met… It’s very unusual.

He went on to say:

In any event, I expect this pardon will be a very popular one with the media. After all, turkeys are closely related to vultures.

In a baffling breaking of the fourth wall, the President added, “I don’t know if I like that line but there is a little truth to it.”

Trump even joked about the impeachment with the line:

These turkeys will remain calm under any condition. Which is good because they’ve been subpoenaed to appear in Adam Schiff’s basement on Thursday.

The subject of pardons and Trump's current impeachment predicaments weren't lost on social media users

People even used it to references the president's seeming obsession with conspiracy theories like the death and crimes of Jeffrey Epstein.

And people couldn't help but be reminded of how previous president Barack Obama delivered his own 'turkey pardons.'

The best part, though, is that the turkeys actually get put up in a hotel.
