Yes, the Tube really is hotter than the legal limit for transporting livestock

Parts of the London Underground have been hotter this week than the temperature in which it is legal to transport livestock.

Temperatures on the Central Line at Oxford Circus hit 34.8C yesterday while the number 10 bus travelling towards Hammersmith reached 35.5C, according to a report in the Evening Standard.

According to EU regulations, it is illegal to transport livestock in anything above 30C for journeys over 12 hours or export journeys over eight hours.

Transport for London conceded that it “still has much to do” to make the Tube more comfortable during the summer months, but has promised improvements in the near future.
