Alex Salmond's football photo op went very, very wrong

How do politicians choose their media advisers? This series of photos of Alex Salmond suggests the answer is 'haphazardly'.

Someone obviously told the first minister a photo opportunity at Street Soccer Scotland in Rutherglen before a meeting of his cabinet would be a 'good idea'.

They were wrong... very wrong.

Things started off innocently enough.

But they went south quickly.

Very south.

And yet still further south.

Until basically things were so far south they were north again.

Luckily the first minister saw the funny side of things.

Mostly.

Overall, it hasn't been a great week for politicians and not looking awkward.
