With just a few days to go until the election, Hillary Clinton has secured an endorsement from the closest thing America has to royalty: Beyonce and Jay Z.

On Friday night in Cleveland, Ohio, at what has been described as "a hip hop political rally", the Democrat nominee stood on stage as the power couple declared:

Beyonce, who had earlier performed her song "Formation", told the crowd:

I want my daughter to grow up seeing a woman leading the country.

According to the New York Times, her husband then warned the crowd against Donald Trump:

I don’t have any ill will toward him, but his conversation is divisive. He cannot be my president. He cannot be our president.

But it was a sign behind the singer that may actually prove to be the Republican's best chance at winning the election:

The Clinton campaign has been concerned by a low turnout in postal voting which could hint at an "enthusiasm gap" for their candidate, the Guardian reports.

With nearly a quarter of all votes already cast, Clinton is underperforming compared to Barack Obama at the same stage four years ago and if turnout is low overall, zealous Trumpers might just outnumber hesitant Hillarites.

That quote again, from the magazine editor George Jean Nathan:

Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote.
