"I don't wear a toupee, it's my hair, I swear!"
Donald Trump was riled by the New York Times describing him as 'the man of the toupee', so naturally he asked a random person at a campaign event to come on stage and look at his head.
"I don't wear a toupee, it's my hair I swear. Come here, come here, we're gonna settle this," he told an audience of supporters in Greenville, South Carolina."Just come on up here. You just have to do an inspection."
And a woman did indeed come on up, gingerly touching Trump's hair before telling the crowd: "Yes, I believe it is [real hair]."
Margaret Bannister insisted afterwards that she had never met Trump before and the whole thing wasn't a stunt.
Bannister is married to South Carolina house majority leader Representative Bruce Bannister.
