Director of the FBI James Comey, confirmed to the Intelligence Committee of the House of Representatives the existence of a federal investigation into Trump on Monday, saying the FBI was:
Investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts.
This has proved a bit of a thorn in the Trump administration's side, especially given this prior tweet by Kellyanne Conway:
As most people pointed out, the tweet aimed at Hillary Clinton has aged badly.
Kellyanne Conway, Donald Trump's White House Counselor, recently made headlines for claiming that anyone who points out occasions when she has lied to or misled the public is
A f***ing miserable person.
Well, Kellyanne, here's a few more times the Trump administration has tweeted without consideration for how the Russia scandal developed.
Here's Sarah Huckabee, Deputy Assistant to the President and daughter of Republican Governor Mike Huckabee:
And here are a smattering of tweets from the main man himself:
Maybe the President should have paid more attention to his daily intelligence briefings than Fox News.
American intelligence agencies concluded in January that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered a covert operation to harm Hillary Clinton’s chances in the 2016 election, thus enabling Donald Trump to take the office of the President.
This included hacking the Democratic National Committee and releasing embarrassing email exchanges through Wikileaks.
The White House dismissed most of James Comey's testimony to the Intelligence Committee, saying there was nothing to investigate.
Because, of course they would.
Comey also said that there was no evidence that Russian hackers changed any votes in the election.
The White House quickly misconstrued this statement, claiming he said that Russia did not influence the electoral process.
The FBI director was later shown the above tweet in the hearing, and made clear that the caption the @POTUS account gave his statement was not the statement he made.
