Iain Lee quits BBC radio show after branding anti-gay Christian guest a 'bigot'

Iain Lee is understood to have left his BBC breakfast radio show after denouncing an anti-LGBT Christian guest as a "bigot".

Lee confirmed on Twitter he would no longer present the BBC Three Counties radio show, a week after he interview Libby Powell of Christian Concern and the Christian Legal Centre.

Powell was invited on the show to discuss the case of a priest who read out anti-gay Bible verses during a prison service.

After she said homosexuality was a sin, Lee asked: "Do you support bigotry?"

He later said: “You’ve chosen not to question it, because you’re a bigot.”

The BBC later apologised, apparently on behalf of Lee too, saying the interview was at times "inappropriate".

It has now emerged that Lee is leaving the show as well.
