Imagine if following a few easy rules could transform you into a best-selling author.

Sounds too good to be true? That would be because it is.

At least according to J.K. Rowling.

Rowling recently ridiculed an article claiming that she had eight writing rules.

She instead agreed with British author W. Somerset Maugham: There are no hard-and-fast rules for writing a novel.

When one of the 20th century's most successful writers is in agreement with one of the 21st's, we should probably listen up.

After all, the entire world is indebted to Rowling flouting the rules.

What might sound scary at first quickly becomes liberating the way Rowling puts it.
