People are loving Lady Gaga’s Italian accent in the new House of Gucci trailer

The first trailer for the highly anticipated House of Gucci starring Lady Gaga has dropped – and people are obsessed with her Italia naccent.

The film is based on the true story about fashion boss Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) who was murdered in 1995 and eventually led to his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) being convicted for orchestrating the killing by a hitman.

Gucci and Reggiani married in 1973, split in 1985 and officially divorced later in 1991.

Within the two-minute trailer, Gaga delivers some powerful lines including: “Gucci needs new blood - it’s time to take out the trash” and at the end says: “Father, son, House of Gucci” as she blesses herself.

But it is Gaga’s Italian accent that people are going gaga for online.

(Fun fact: the singer and actor does have an Italian name – her real name is Stefani Germanotta – and also has ancestry on both sides of her family.)

When some people heard Gaga’s Italian accent for the first time, another Italian fashion designer came to mind – Donatella Versace.

Meanwhile, there were a few people that thought the Bad Romance singer’s accent sounded more Russian than Italian.

Elsewhere, others described Gaga’s accent as “camp.”

The plot follows the lead-up to Reggiani’s trial where she was convicted for orchestrating the assassination and imprisoned for 18 years.

This film marks Gaga’s return to the big screen after her Oscar-winning performance in 2018 hit film A Star is Born.

Directed by Ridley Scott, the film boasts an all A-list cast with Jared Leto as Paolo Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, and Salma Hayek as Giuseppina.

House of Gucci is scheduled for release in the US on 24 November and 26 November in the UK.

Its release coincides with the 100th anniversary since the house of Gucci was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci.
