Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy interviewed comedian and director Richard Ayoade last night to ask him, among other things, about his new book, being a role model for Britain’s Norwegian population and diversity in the entertainment industry.
But things took a slightly bizarre twist as Ayoade, who apparently dislikes interviews, turned the interview around and started asking Guru-Murthy the questions instead...
RA: I don’t dislike interviews - it’s just a bit like commuting. I accept it as a part of this. But no one, y’know, loves it.
KGM: I get that, I get that. But give me something in return.
RA: That was not a good chat up line.
KGM: You are a rarity in the entertainment industry right now - in that you are young, Cambridge-educated, black, British and that’s quite a rare subset.
RA: Yes, it’s a hell of a medical form
And then came the killer line...
KGM: Richard, thank you very much indeed for coming in.
RA: Don't thank me, I've done nothing for you.
