Scotland's oldest woman attributes long life to eating porridge, avoiding men

Earlier this month Scotland's oldest woman, Jessie Gallan, celebrated her 109th birthday.

She was born in a two-room farm cottage in Kintore on January 2, 1906.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, she explained her secret to a long life:

My secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They're just more trouble than they're worth.

I also made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning and have never gotten married.

Earlier this week, Britain's oldest person, 112-year-old Gladys Hooper, said she had lived so long through "being busy" and never doing "stupid things".
