This is how people in the US are coping until the blizzard passes

In the US 19 people are known to have died in the dangerous conditions created by Storm Jonas, a blizzard that is causing chaos on the east coast of the country.

The storm is expected to break records as it leaves up to 100cm of snow in some places. More than 85million people live in its projected pathway, and there are travel bans in place in Washington DC and New York.

The authorities are urging everyone to keep indoors until the potentially record-breaking storm passes. But at least some people who are safe and warm have gotten bored of staying in.

One woman on Imgur got her husband to dress up like the grim reaper and go outside to freak out the neighbours (because death has no chill).

I convinced my husband to go out in a blizzard dressed as Death just so I could add another photo to my macabre collection.

And we do not recommend trying this at home.

Or this.

(It's worth turning the sound on to hear these guys' yelps of frigid pain.)

In New York, jokers took to the empty streets to snowboard and ski their way around corners:

And it appears police in DC haven't lost their sense of humour.

It's not just people who are having fun, either: Tian Tian, a giant panda at a zoo in DC, is also having the time of his life making snow angels:

Seen anyone else making the most of their enforced snow days? Let us know in the comments below.
