Donald Trump is on course to have played more golf in his first year than George W. Bush played in eight years.

In August 2016, presidential candidate Donald Trump told a rally in Loudon County, Virginia:

Because I'm going to be working for you, I'm not going to have time to go play golf.

Believe me.

Believe me folks.

A year since he was elected, and longer since he made that pledge, the President has racked up 81 days visiting one of his golf courses.

It is unconfirmed if on every visit to a Trump golf course whether or not the President plays golf, but he has photographed in golf wear before.

According to Mark Knoller of CBS News, President Barack Obama played 26 rounds during his first year in office.

Over eight years President Obama played a total 333 rounds of golf.

Knoller told CNN that President George W. Bush, who was criticised for playing golf during the Afghanistan War stopped playing golf in 2003, halting his record at just 24 rounds in a total of eight years.

Donald Trump's pledge before crowds even alluded to the fact he 'may never see my property - I may never see these places again'.

The President's golf outings and weekends are frequently at Trump properties, such as Mar-A-Lago, and Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where President Trump spent this Saturday.

CNN quoted a law enforcement source as saying the President did indeed play golf this Saturday, with golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

On his Twitter, Knoller claimed that Saturday was President Trump's fourth day in a row at one of his golf clubs.
